160km-per-hour car thief sentenced to four years

A man who crashed a stolen car into a taxi and also rammed garda vehicles during high-speed chases has been sentenced to four years detention by Judge Katherine Delahunt at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Stephen Maher had a "history of persistent offending" and had created a significant element of danger to the public and the gardai, Judge Delahunt said.
