Fireman receives nine stitches after Dublin assault
A fireman is recovering this morning after receiving nine stitches following an assault by a member of the public in Dublin city centre last night.
The victim needed hospital treatment after being headbutted by his attacker on Bachelor's Quay just before 11pm.
He and his colleagues had been called out to an incident in the River Liffey that turned out to be a false alarm.
A man was arrested in connection with the attack and is due in court next month on assault charges.
