The man, in his 50s, was one of six people taken into custody during raids in Swords, north Co Dublin, and Ratoath, Co Meath.

Five others – including three women – are still being questioned in relation to the find at garda stations across north Dublin.

Today the find – which included dozens of packages of heroin, five handguns and thousands of rounds of ammunition – was displayed at Santry Garda Station for photographers.

The raids were carried out as part of an on-going garda operation.

All six were arrested under S30 Offences Against the State Act and can be held for up to 72 hours.
