Rabbitte highlights stealth taxes introduced by FF-PDs
Labour Party leader Pat Rabbitte has accused the two government parties of misleading the electorate by claiming they are committed to low taxes.
Fianna Faáil and the Progressive Democrats frequently refer to the reductions in income tax that they have introduced while in power in the past nine years.
However, speaking during a tour of the Meath East constituency today, Mr Rabbitte said these reductions have all been clawed back from the public via a string of stealth taxes.
He said at least 50 such taxes had been introduced or increased by the Government, including an increase in college registration charges, an increase in the threshold on the Drug Refund Scheme and increases in the television licence fee.
