Two charged in relation to alleged arms smuggling plot

Police in the North have charged two people following an investigation into an alleged plot to smuggle arms for dissident republicans.

The two, a 41-year-old man and 37-year-old woman, were among 10 people arrested on Monday following raids in Co Fermanagh and Co Armagh.

The PSNI says a handgun, explosive material and other bomb-making items were found during one of the searches on Lettergreen Road in Donagh, Co Fermanagh.

The two people charged in connection with the raids are due in court today, while the police have been given further time to question another three people detained during the operation.
