Haughey remembered for 'style, flair and panache'
Charles Haughey's brother has paid tribute to the former Taoiseach's remarkable life, saying he will be remembered for his "style, flair and panache".
Giving the homily at the 80-year-old's funeral mass in north Dublin today, Fr Eoghan Haughey said: "He had that indefinable something, that magnetism, that magic quality.
"Some may not have liked it or understood it, but they style, they say, is the man."
Fr Haughey also paid tribute to his brother's political achievements, saying he "took some of the fear out of old age for people with the famous free travel for the elderly and the free electricity, free television".
"Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís - there will not be his like ever again," he added.
