Police were today hunting a five-man gang who launched a sectarian assault on two other men in Antrim.

Police were today hunting a five-man gang who launched a sectarian assault on two other men in Antrim.

A 26-year-old and 17-year-old were having a barbecue near the Newpark Estate in the town when they were set upon by several others.

The incident took place at around 11pm on Friday in an area known locally as 'the donkey field'.

The teenager was treated for puncture wounds following the attack but it is not clear what weapons were used. None of the injuries is life-threatening.

Police in Antrim have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
