The absence of an elected Assembly in the north could lead to a lack of EU funding opportunities, according to UUP MEP Jim Nicholson.

“This current crop of direct rule ministers don’t seem capable of promoting Northern Ireland within the Brussels context and as such we lose out significantly to other regions in the United Kingdom,” said Nicholson.
