Father jailed over child porn on computer

A father-of-three who had nearly 1000 vile and horrific child porn images on his home computer has been jailed for three years.

Gardaí discovered 796 still images and 137 movie files on the computer belonging to Ray Daly, (aged 41), of Ellensborough Way, Kiltipper, Tallaght, Dublin.

The computer technician was found guilty by a jury on May 16 on four charges of knowingly having child pornography in his possession on dates from April 2003 to July 5, 2004. The jury of eight women and four men delivered the guilty verdict on day-five of his trial.

Judge Miriam Reynolds at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court also imposed a two year supervision order following his release.
