Two women had to be cut from their car in Dublin city centre yesterday after it was hit by a stolen vehicle being chased by gardaí.

Two women had to be cut from their car in Dublin city centre yesterday after it was hit by a stolen vehicle being chased by gardaí.

The collision happened at the junction of Townsend Street and Tara Street at around 9.30pm.

At least two unmarked Garda cars were pursuing a Vauxhall Corsa carrying at least three teenagers when it crashed into a Mercedes carrying two women.

Firemen had to cut the roof from the Mercedes before taking the women to hospital for treatment.

One youth has been arrested in connection with the incident.
