Murder hunt launched following fatal Dublin shooting
Gardaí in Dublin have launched a murder hunt following the fatal shooting of a man in the Raheny area of the city this morning.
The victim, who was in his 40s, was shot just after 9am while returning to his home on Edenmore Avenue after dropping his children off at school.
He was found slumped over the wheel of his car after local residents reported hearing gunshots in the area.
The attacker is believed to have fled the scene on a waiting motorbike.
The scene of the shooting has been sealed off for technical examination by gardaí and a post mortem is due to be carried out on the body later today.
Gardaí say they have identified the dead man, but will not be releasing his name until all next of kin are informed.
