Priest steps aside amidst sexual misconduct probe

A Co Longford priest has stepped aside from his ministry amidst an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct.

The Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise Dr Colm O'Reilly has confirmed that a priest of the diocese has voluntarily agreed to take administrative leave.

The civil authorities have been notified of the complaint, which it is understood relates to events alleged to have happened some time ago.
