PSNI investigating fatal hit-and-run in Co Down

Police in the North are investigating a fatal hit-and-run near Hilltown in Co Down in the early hours of this morning.

One person died after being struck by a vehicle on the Newry Road at around 3.30am.

The road has been closed while the PSNI investigates the incident and motorists are being diverted onto other routes.

It is unknown whether the victim is a man or a woman.
