NBRU makes pitch for public transport investment
The National Bus and Rail Workers Union (NBRU) has made a pitch for more public transport investment.
Delegates attending their annual conference in Donegal are discussing threatened industrial action over safety standards in Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus.
The Government is accused of failing to replace older vehicles quickly enough.
Michael Faherty of the NBRU says the Minister for Transport is responsible.
Speaking today, he said: “Most of those companies are short of a couple of hundred buses each.
"When it comes to bus fleets and bus companies, buses are the short-term answer, at least, to the problems.”
