There has been a significant development in the Afghani hunger strike at St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin.

The majority of the remaining 35 asylum seekers have started taking water.

Moves are underway to open dialogue with Officials at the Department of Justice Immigration Bureau in Burgh Quay Dublin.

Janet Maxwell is the Head of Synod services with the Church of Ireland said: "We would hope before the end of the day we'll be able to say there is genuine progress toward resolution."
