Francis Sheridan’s family welcome new inquest into her death

The family of nine-year-old Francis Sheridan is welcoming the Attorney General's decision to order a new inquiry into her death.

The Cavan girl died two years ago following complications during an appendix operation at Cavan General Hospital.

The jury at the inquest found she died of natural causes, despite suggestions from the coroner that such a verdict would not be appropriate.

Local independent TD Paudge Connolly is welcoming the new inquiry.

“The family were very concerned about the verdict at the time, as were the public in general," he said.

“So to go back over, and have another hearing, i think all the concerns that have been expressed since that will be taken on board.”
