A 17-year-old boy charged with the manslaughter of a man who died following an altercation outside his home in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, last August, has been returned for trial to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The west Dublin teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with unlawfully killing panel beater Oliver Leacy Senior, at his home on Cellbridge Road, Leixlip, Co. Kildare, on August 13 last year.

The teenager, who was supported in court by his mother, has also been charged with engaging in a violent disorder. The teenager is also been charged with assault causing harm to the deceased’s son Oliver Leacy Junior.

Garda Ernst Henderson of Lucan station served the teen, who is on bail, with the book of evidence in the case at the Dublin Children’s Court today.

Judge Bryan Smyth then ordered a return for trial to the present term of the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The two other 17-year-old boys, also from west Dublin, who are charged with assaulting the deceased’s son and engaging in a violent disorder were also served with books of evidence today and sent forward for trial to the Circuit Criminal Court.

The three are subject to bail conditions forbidding them from going to the Leixlip area for the duration of the case.
