Decentralisation concerns top agenda at AHCPS meeting
Concerns about decentralisation are topping the agenda at the annual conference of the Association of Higher Civil and Public Servants in Dublin today.
The Government's plan to relocate 10,000 staff from the capital to more than 50 locations around the country has already attracted opposition from several other unions.
The AHCPS says this upheaval could hamper the running of the country, with government departments and agencies scattered across a range of areas.
One motion up for discussion at today's conference calls on the Government to recognise that many staff are not interested in relocating and to rethink the entire decentralisation scheme.
