US seeks extradition of nurse on murder charge
American authorities are preparing to file an extradition request for a male nurse believed to be living in Ireland, who is accused of murdering a woman in Florida with a lethal injection.
The man, 27-year-old Oliver O'Quinn, has been charged with second degree murder for allegedly injecting a fitness instructor with an overdose of surgical anaesthetic in November 2005.
Flight records show he travelled to Ireland on December 27 last year, soon after Florida police sought to question him.
It is understood that within days of arriving in Dublin he unsuccessfully attempted to register with the nursing board.
