Decentralisation concerns on agenda at PSEU conference
Decentralisation is one of the main issues up for discussion at the annual conference of the Public Service Executive Union this weekend.
The union represents more than 10,000 senior civil servants working for the Government and a range of public service agencies.
Many of these are unhappy with the decentralisation process and do not want to move out of Dublin to new locations across the country.
They cannot be forced to do so because decentralisation is voluntary, but the PSEU says it has major concerns about how this would affect their career prospects.
Speaking ahead of the opening of the union's three-day conference in Killarney today, PSEU president Patricia Tobin said a surplus of senior civil servants in Dublin could affect promotional opportunities.
