Body discovered in River Shannon in Limerick

A body has been taken from the River Shannon in Limerick.

The body of the elderly man was spotted in the water near Arthur’s Quay Park in Limerick City shortly after 10am.

The body has been removed to the Mid-Western Regional hospital where a post mortem will be carried out later this evening.

It's believed the remains may have been in the water for up to six weeks.
