Investigations continuing into fatal Down shooting
Internal police investigations are continuing in the North after a man was shot dead by PSNI officers at a checkpoint in Co Down yesterday.
Police stopped the car at Ballynahinch yesterday morning, believing it to be stolen. Shots were then fired at the driver as he remained in the car.
The three men and two women travelling with the victim were arrested.
Local DUP councillor, Jim Wells said the incident was particularly shocking because it happened during Easter Sunday services in the middle of Church Street, which houses two large churches.
He said the shooting brought back some bad memories for the local people of the Troubles, but he said he wanted to assure them that this was not a terrorist incident.
