Fingal gives green light to new runway at Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) has welcomed a decision by Fingal County Council to grant permission for the construction of a new east-west runway.

The new runway will be built 1.6km to the north of the airport and parallel to the existing main runway.

DAA will take time to assess the specifics of this decision in greater detail.

"Based on the most recent traffic forecasts, the new parallel runway needs to be operational within the next six to seven years to ensure the airfield at Dublin Airport continues to operate effectively and airline operations are not subjected to growing delays on arrival and departure," A DAA spokesperson said.
