A town designated as a hub under the National Spatial Strategy has no modern broadband service, it emerged tonight.

Tuam was selected as a key area for growth in the 2002 strategy but it was passed over for fibreoptic broadband funding, which was allocated to five other non-hub towns in Galway instead.
