One in Four demands clarity on Louise O’Keefe case

The One in Four support group for victims of sexual abuse is seeking clarity from the authorities regarding the Louise O'Keefe case.

Ms O'Keefe, who was abused by her former school principal, is facing a costs bill of around €500,000 after she lost a claim for compensation from the State.

Earlier this week, Senator Mary O'Rourke said the 42-year-old mother-of-two would not have to foot the bill, but the State Claims Agency later said that no decision had been made on the matter.

The Department of Education, meanwhile, is insisting that it has no part to play in the case, but says the claims agency will take Ms O'Keefe's circumstances into account.

One in Four director Colm O'Gorman said today that it was "obscene" that an abuse victim was being left in limbo in this manner.
