The vice-chairman of the SDLP has resigned, claiming the party is being run by a clique that is out of touch with the grassroots and the electorate.

The vice-chairman of the SDLP has resigned, claiming the party is being run by a clique that is out of touch with the grassroots and the electorate.

Announcing his decision last night, Eddie Espie said the SDLP had once been rooted in communities and had given value and understanding to the worries, fears and hopes of nationalists.
