Men on theft charges flee courthouse
Two Belfast men were on-the-run today after fleeing from Letterkenny courthouse were they were appearing on theft charges.
Following a brief adjournment in their case, the pair asked to consult with their lawyer and headed towards the foyer of the building.
It is understood a woman held open automatic doors at the front of the court house and the men fled.
John Quinn, 48, of Cavanmore Gardens and Joseph McQuade, 34, of Ross Street, were arrested on Monday over the theft of cash from a Bridgend hotel in 2005.
The pair had appeared at Letterkenny District Court on Tuesday when a Garda sergeant told the judge the men had admitted the crime.
The men’s solicitor requested a short adjournment and when they indicated they were ready to go back into court they turned and ran out the doors.
It is also understood an arrest warrant for the men cannot be issued as they had not been on bail.
