Gardaí investigating death of young man in Mullingar

Gardaí in Co Westmeath are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a young man found lying on a street in Mullingar late last night.

The local man in his 20s was found by a passer-by in the Blackhall area of the town just before midnight.

He was rushed to the Midlands Regional Hospital, where he died a short time later.

The scene where his body was found has been sealed off pending technical examination, while a post mortem will also be carried out later today to determine the cause of his death.
