M50 closed for four hours during garda probe

The M50 motorway is closed to traffic this afternoon following an incident on the dual-carriage way last night.

Garda forensic teams involved in the investigation have been on site since 2pm and will remain there until 6pm.

Derek Ryan of A-A Roadwatch is urging motorists to avoid the area. He said the M50 will be closed to traffic northbound between the Ballymount and Lucan exit.

"Diversions will be put in place for traffic at Ballymount so drivers won't be able to access the M50 from the Naas Road," he said.

"It is likely to cause big delays for traffic on the M50 so we are urging people to avoid using the M50 at these times."
