Man 'stable' after Dublin shooting
A man is in a serious but stable condition in Dublin’s Mater Hospital today after being wounded in the second shooting to occur in the capital in 24 hours.
The victim, who is in his early twenties, was attacked on Berrysfield Drive in South Finglas at around 8.45am.
He is believed to have gone to a house to appeal for assistance.
The latest shooting is in the same police divisional area as yesterday’s fatal gun attack on a man in Cabra.
It is the third gun attack in Dublin over the past week.
There has been an outcry over shooting incidents in the wake of the murder last weekend of Donna Cleary.
The latest shooting also occurred as Irish Justice Minister Michael McDowell was criticised by Opposition TDs for failing to shoulder the blame for crime levels.
Fine Gael Senator Brian Hayes and Irish Labour Party justice spokesperson Joe Costello both accused the minister of trying to blame everybody else but the Government for poor conviction levels and rising crime.
