Joe Dirwan appointed general secretary of the AGSI

Joe Dirwan, the current president of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI), has been appointed the new general secretary of the association.

He is a detective sergeant in the Cavan-Monaghan division and will take up office early in April.

His appointment follows the resignation earlier this year of Pat Flynn who has now returned to his former position as sergeant in the Traffic Corps based at Dublin Castle.
