Public urged not to jump to conclusions over custody death

The Garda has asked the public not to jump to conclusions in relation to the death of a man at Coolock Garda Station this morning.

The 24-year-old, who was being questioned about the fatal shooting of Donna Cleary, complained about headaches while in custody yesterday and was seen by a doctor three times.

He was subsequently taken to Beaumont Hospital, but was later brought back to Coolock Garda Station for further questioning.

He fell ill again this morning and was pronounced dead shortly after being taken back to Beaumont by ambulance at 3am.

Speaking at a press conference in Dublin today, Superintendent Kevin Donoghue said people should hold back on their judgments until all the facts of the case are known.
