Former Green MEP McKenna to contest Dublin Central seat

Former Green Party MEP Patricia McKenna is to contest the next General Election in the Taoiseach's Dublin Central constituency.

Ms McKenna lost her European Parliament seat in 2004.

The addition of the former MEP will mean more competition for Sinn Féin MEP Mary Lou McDonald, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and his Fianna Fáil running-mates Councillors Cyprian Brady and Mary Fitzpatrick.

Bertie Ahern said he is enthusiastic about the campaign.

“I think we've a very good panel, and I think it's really for us to work hard now on the ground,” he said.
