Gardaí in Dublin have released a 49-year-old man they had been questioning about the death of a woman in the south of the city earlier this week.

The man was arrested yesterday morning as gardaí confirmed they were treating Siobhan Kearney's death as murder.

The 38-year-old's body was found by a relative in an upstairs bedroom at her home in the Knocknashee area of Goatstown on Tuesday morning.

Gardaí have refused to release the results of the post mortem on the remains, but Ms Kearney is believed to have been strangled.

Gardaí are now preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the case.
