The infant died in Irvinestown, Co Fermanagh on Thursday, but details have only now been disclosed.

It is understood that police are treating it as a domestic-type incident.

They refused to reveal either the baby’s exact age or whether it was a boy or girl.

But a spokesman said: “We can confirm the death is being treated as suspicious.”
