New Luas line to be operational by 2009
The new Luas line extension from Tallaght to Citywest should be up and running by 2009.
The proposed line will serve Belgard through to City West Business Campus, terminating at Fortunestown Lane.
The new link is likely to cater for up to 3,500,000 extra passenger journeys per year.
Spokesperson for the Railway Procurement Agency Frank Allen said today that, all going well, it should take three years to build.
“We would be shooting for early 2009 but, as I say, that is contingent on us doing our working well but is also contingent on the planning process, negotiations with developers, transfer of titled land and sometimes these things can conspire to delay,” he said.
