One-third of C&D staff to return to work today

Around one-third of the staff employed at C&D Foods in Co Longford are due to return to work today for the first time since the fire that shut down the factory last month.

The Edgeworthstown plant was extensively damaged in a major blaze almost exactly a month ago, prompting fears for the futures of the 500 workers at the facility.

However, 170 of them are due to resume work today following the reopening of a section of the operation.

The future remains unclear, however, for the other employees.
