A former Marist brother has had his conviction for indecently assaulting six boys in a Sligo primary school quashed by the Court of Criminal Appeal.

The 63-year-old is now facing a retrial after his lawyers successfully appealed the conviction due to the antiquity of the charges and the fact that the trial judge did not adequately warn the jury about the dangers inherent in the delay.
