A 21-year-old student is due to be sentenced today for the manslaughter of Co Cork schoolboy Robert Holohan last year.

Wayne O'Donogue, from Ballyedmond in Midleton, was found guilty last month of unlawfully killing his 11-year-old neighbour.

The youngster disappeared near his home last January. Eight days later, his body was found dumped 12 miles away following an intensive search of the area.

Mr O'Donoghue later admitted that he killed the 11-year-old by grabbing him around the neck after he threw stones at his car, but he insisted the killing was accidental.

The jury found him not guilty on the charge of murder.
