Number of women choosing C-sections up sharply

The number of women giving birth by Caesarean section in Ireland is increasing, according to a study carried out by the Economic and Social Research Institute.

The ESRI said 22% of all babies born in 2002 were delivered by C-section, a rise of 72% on the figures for 1993.
