Govt rules out fines for drunken patients at A&E units

The Government has reportedly rejected calls for fines to be levied on drunken visitors to accident and emergency units in Irish hospitals.

An extra charge on drunken patients had been suggested in response to recent studies that found that up to one third of people attending A&E had been injured in accidents involving drink.
