Irish teenager was British serial killer’s first victim

British police have reportedly established that the teenage son of Irish emigrants was the first victim of notorious serial killer Dennis Nilsen.

Mr Nilsen was jailed for life in 1983 on six murder charges, but is believed to have also killed at least six more men and boys during a five-year period.

Reports this morning said Mr Nilsen told police at the time of his arrest that his first victim was a male Irish teenager.

The reports said the police had only recently established that he was referring to Stephen Holmes, a 14-year-old son of Irish emigrants who disappeared in London in December 1978.

Mr Nilsen reportedly confirmed that the boy was his first victim when shown a photograph of him by the police last year.

This information has now been passed to the dead teenager's sister, who is living in the Artane area of Dublin.
