Around 50 swans have died around Wexford Wildfowl Reserve since Christmas, it emerged this afternoon.

Dozens of dead and sick birds have been turning up over the past few weeks according to a statement by Environment Minister Dick Roche.

Tests have ruled out avian flu as the cause.

An investigation into possible poisoning of the fowl is continuing.
