McDowell promises study into crimes by people on bail

Justice Minister Michael McDowell has reportedly promised to commission research into crimes committed by people on bail.

Reports this morning said the minister made the promise last night after meeting a group representing murder victims.

The group - Advocates for the Victims of Homicide - said latest crime figures showed around one-quarter of murders were committed by people who were out on bail.
