Wicklow man to receive Queen’s MBE
The former chairman of a reconciliation centre in Wicklow is being awarded an MBE by Britain's Queen Elizabeth in her New Years Honours list.
Colin Murphy is being awarded for his work as chairman of the Glencrea Reconciliation Centre which specialises in post-conflict resolution, particularly in relation to Northern Ireland.
The centre also set up twinning programmes between communities in the North and in the Republic.
Others included in the list are Dr Allen McClay the founder of pharmaceutical company Galen, Lady Christine Eames for her service to the Northern Ireland community and the former Presbyterian Moderator Ken Newell for his work improving cross-community relations there.
