Green Party: Govt ‘not grasping seriousness of greenhouse emissions'
The Green Party has said the Government doesn’t seem to have grasped the seriousness of the problem of greenhouse gas emissions causing climate change.
A new study has put Ireland among the worst offenders in Europe for failing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Britain and Sweden are the only two EU countries on target to reach commitments made under the Kyoto agreement to reduce toxic emissions, according to the Institute for Public Policy Research in Britain.
Green Party Leader Trevor Sargent said the effects of climate change are already evident..
He added that Ireland will face “very serious allegations” if it doesn’t get to grips with this problem.
