Christmas crackdown sees 1,000 arrested for drink driving

Almost 1,000 motorists have been arrested for drink driving in the run-up to Christmas.

Gardaí have breath tested 25% more drivers this year with the establishment of “super checkpoints” manned by up to 20 gardaí at random locations in the six garda divisions.
