The North's Policing Board is due to hold a special meeting this afternoon to discuss the so-called Stormontgate affair.

The chair and deputy chair of the body discussed the matter with Northern Secretary Peter Hain last night and also held talks with PSBI Chief Constable Hugh Orde this morning.

Earlier today, Mr Orde denied that his officers had engaged in a politically motivated operation to collapse the North's institutions when they raided Sinn Féin's Stormont offices in October 2002.

The accusation was made by Sinn Féin after the revelation that a party official at the centre of an alleged IRA spy ring at Stormont was actually a British agent.
