New voting laws for prisoners welcomed

The Irish Penal Reform Trust has welcomed the Government's decision to allow prisoners the right to vote, as it will bring Ireland in line with other countries.

Legislation will be introduced next year to give those behind bars the right to a postal vote in their own constituencies.
