CORI welcomes budget increases in social welfare
The Conference of Religious in Ireland has welcomed the social welfare increases announced by Minister for Finance Brian Cowen in yesterday's Budget.
The organisation said today that the increases represented major progress towards improving social inclusion and fairness for the poor and low-paid.
However, it also said the budget did not include adequate provisions for social housing, as well as primary and second-level education.
